  • Bring water shoes (if you’re getting in the water), a hat, a water bottle(reusable), sunscreen, and bug repellant, as you may need
  • Supplies will include water to refill your water bottle, a first aid kit, a cell phone (to take pictures and for 911 calls if needed), trash bags, gloves, and “grabbers.”
  • We’ll introduce ourselves and briefly overview the importance of cleaning our watershed.
  • Then, we’ll team up for safety and walk approximately ½ of a mile to the north end of the creek (from what we call Deer Island) to clean the creek back to the soccer field area at the south end.
  • For those who want to stay dry, just let Larry know beforehand.  You can help by taking heavy/full trash bags from those in the stream at key points and providing replacement bags as needed.

All homeowners and their neighbors are encouraged to join us or look at streams/tributaries closer to their homes to help. The debris and litter collected will be sorted/bagged/weighed at the Groombridge parking lot for pick up in the afternoon of the event, and the city will properly dispose of the waste.

  • We had a combined 80 volunteers (many from MLB and Doublegate, along with Johns Creek Stormwater Utility Manager Cory Rayburn)
  • A combined 600 lbs of trash was removed (that’s a lot of empty plastic water bottles and old tennis balls)

On Saturday, March 30th, 2024, join Autrey Mill Nature Preserve for the annual Sal’s Creek Clean-up right here at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve.
