Internships at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center

Autrey Mill is very appreciative of our interns! We couldn’t have blossomed into the Nature and Heritage Center we are today without countless hours provided by the community. If you would like to come over and pitch in, review our procedures below and email us at the listed address. We are happy to host high-school juniors and seniors or college interns.

Steps to Applying for Internship:

-Complete the Volunteer Application
-Compose a letter of interest that includes personal goals, hobbies and any other motivation for working with Autrey Mill.
-Comprise a resume that includes work experience, clubs attended, awards received, and at least 2 references.
-Interns must have completed the free “Mandated Reporter” training. Once complete save the certificate.
-Compile the above documents digitally and send into

General Internship Information:

-Interns will be tasked with a variety of assignments and may include: animal care, garden care, grounds work, exhibit restoration, habitat restoration and more.
-It will be up to the intern and the Education Director to come up with a semester project. The semester projects range from sustainability garden projects, to exhibit restorations or signage upgrades.
-All interns must complete a volunteer waiver before beginning work. Children under 18 years of age must have their waiver signed by their legal guardian.
-Volunteers should come dressed for the weather, including appropriate footwear. Sandals are not appropriate.
-Please wear appropriate or and refrain from non-family-friendly clothing.
-Internships maybe terminated at any time for any reason deemed appropriate by the Autrey Mill Staff.
-Inappropriate language, poor attitudes and lack of motivation will not be tolerated and will result in a reciprocated warning. After a verbal, and two written warnings Autrey Mill reserves the right to terminate any internship agreement.
