Do you like to play in, on, and near the creeks and river? Do you want to know if it is safe and help keep it safe? Local water scientists and naturalists will provide inter-active classes and training on the Chattahoochee watershed. Your entire family is welcome to attend and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy afterward on the grounds at beautiful Autry Mill Nature Preserve.
In-depth hands-on training on Adopt a Stream and Neighborhood Water Watch sampling techniques. Participants will conduct Dissolved Oxygen, pH, temperature, conductivity tests, visual stream surveys, and macro- invertebrate surveys. We will discuss the tools need to identify local fish and wildlife. Participants will learn about Neighborhood Water Watch and how to become involved in organizations like Chattahoochee River Keepers, Adopt a Stream, and the importance of becoming a water steward in their community. All participants are invited to bring a sack lunch for a picnic from noon-1, event hosts will join and be available to answer questions, network, and chat.
This training is open to participants 8 years old and up. However, participants under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult registrant. This program is free for AMNP Members and $5 for all other participants.
