Signed up for 2020 Camp Autrey Mill- now what?

Thank you for enrolling your children in Autrey Mill’s Nature and Heritage Summer Camps. We are very excited about our camps this year and we are sure to have tons of fun while learning about nature and history. As many of you already know, Camp Autrey Mill will look a little different this year. These changes reflect carefully considered to help safeguard the health of everyone involved with our camps that we would like to share with you.

Below is some basic information regarding our camps:

 

Pre- Care Every week we have pre-care options available. If an AMNP representative is not waiting by the visitor center driveway, please call the office at (678)366-3511 for camp staff to come out and receive your child. We are doing touchless drop off. Please, be sure your child can get out of your vehicle without assistance.
Arrival Camps will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.

Please take note of our New TOUCH FREE Drop Off Procedure:

Please preparer for a touch free drop off while in line. We cannot cross the threshold of the car to provide assistance to your camper. Be sure your child can get out of their car seat and can reach their belongings. PLEASE NOTE This Touch Free drop off is in accordance with Governor Kemps Standards and CDC recommendations.

1.      Proceed to your specified drop off location (See Map).

2.      Please keep your car window mostly rolled up and be ready to with your ID.

3.      Please answer the counselor’s wellness questions at drop off truthfully.

4.      When instructed roll down your camper’s window. We will scan your child’s forehead for a temperature. If the camper has a fever of 100 degrees they will be excused from camp.

5.      When instructed the camper should get out of the car, shut the door, and proceed to the hand sanitizing station.

Check-in/ Check-out At Drop off your camper will be signed in by the counselor.

Please email info@Aureymill.org with the names of who will be picking up your child besides yourself. At check-out, please stay in your vehicle, proceed to your specified location and be ready with your ID. The counselor will sign your child out.

If Checking in or Out after 9 am or before 3 pm, please call the Visitor Center to make arrangements. If at all possible please email info@Autreymill.org to arrange in advance.

Lunch/

Snack

Full Day Campers will need to pack both a snack and a lunch. Half Day Campers need to pack a snack. After Care Campers will need to pack an additional snack. Please make sure all lunches and snacks are non-perishable, and please try to limit peanut products due to potential allergies. We encourage you to consider a trash-free lunch. No food sharing is allowed. Please be sure your child’s lunchbox has their name clearly labeled on the outside.

Drinks While we do have water fountains available, we recommend all campers bring a refillable water bottle. Please be sure the child’s water bottle is clearly labeled. Our hydration policy states that all campers must at least drink one full water bottle in the morning, refill it and drink it again in the afternoon.
Attire All campers should come prepared for both indoor and outdoor activities. Nature Campers need to arrive with their swim attire under their clothes. Campers should bring a spare change of clothes, just in case. Sturdy, closed –toe footwear is required. During Nature Camps, we require an extra pair of shoes to be worn in the creek, packing a pair of sandals or water shoes to use in and out of water. Bug spray and sunscreen should be applied before camp begins.

Discovery Campers: Please send your child in water clothes for Wild Water Camp

Pick-up Camps end at 3:00 PM.

1.      Proceed to your specified drop off location (See Map).

2.      Please keep your car window mostly rolled up and be ready to with your ID.

3.      If the counselor needs to speak to you, they will request you to call the office or leave a note in the camper’s bag. If you need to speak to your counselor please email Lauren.macdaniel@autreymill.org to schedule a phone call.

The late pick-up policy states that after a grace period of 15 minutes, we will begin charging parents $1 per minute (barring exceptional circumstances).

Discovery camp for 4 year olds will end at 12pm.

After-Care Select weeks we have after care options available (the weeks of June 1st, June 15th, June 22nd, July 6th, and July 20th). Please, call the visitor center to have their child brought out.

Our late pick-up policy states that after a grace period of 15 minutes, will begin charging parents $1 per minute (barring exceptional circumstances).

 

Outbreak clause:

Prevention: Counselors and staff have been trained, and will be participating with campers in everyday measures to prevent the spread of infectious disease, including:

  • Class sizes will be limited
  • Fieldtrips have been cancelled (outside groups coming to Autrey Mill)
  • Mandatory hand washing throughout the day
  • Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces
  • Covering mouth and nose with arm if sneezing or coughing
  • Councilors will likely be wearing masks while inside
  • Groups will be social distanced by using separate bathrooms and class spaces
  • There will be no food sharing of any kind including but not limited to popsicles and s’mores
  • Individual craft materials kits will be assigned to each campers
  • Limited water activities (excluding creek time)
  • The majority of the day will be spent outside
  • We will be screening all volunteers and staff daily
  • First day of camper will be taught proper hand washing techniques

Mitigation Protocol: If someone becomes ill while at camp, the following steps will be taken: Containment, Cleaning, and in the case of a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, Closure and Contacting.

  • Containment: The ill individual will be moved to a building that will be otherwise unused during the summer and supervised until departure
  • Cleaning: Other campers will go to another area to allow potentially exposed items and surfaces to be disinfected. The isolation area will be disinfected after the unwell person has left our facilities.
  • Confirmation Closing: If a diagnosis of COVID-19 is confirmed, camp will be closed for 3 days to thoroughly disinfect all areas.
  • Contact: All potentially exposed parties will be notified while protecting the confidentiality of the ill person.  No names or contact information will be given out to other parents or campers.

 

Cancellation Policy: In these exceptional times we have made a few slight adjustments to our cancellation policy.

  • Cancellation requests must be made in writing (via letter or email).
  • Effective June 1st unexcused cancellations requested 2 weeks before the program start date will accrue a fee of $20 per registration. Cancelations requested after 2 weeks will be refunded %50.
  • Switching between programs is allowed, based on availability, there is a fee of $20 per switch.
  • If illness causes a program participant to miss. A doctor’s note is required for makeup days, to switch programs, or to be refunded.
  • Autrey Mill Nature Preserve reserves the right to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment. A full refund (excluding any membership fees) will be given should a camp be cancelled.
