We are excited to announce Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center is featured stop on the partnering with Johns Creek Beautification for the 2019 2nd Annual Garden Tours, May 4, 2019, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
More than a garden destination, this unique Preserve owned by the City of Johns Creek includes miles of woodland trails, historic buildings, a butterfly garden, and a variety of animal exhibits- including ducks, chickens, a rabbit and more. Autrey Mill has also invited our partner organizations including Fulton County Water Resources, Spruill Oaks Library, Monarchs Across Georgia, the National Charity League, Young Men’s Service League and Fulton County Master Gardeners to help create a unique array of events and programs. Fulton County Water Resources will have a presentation on Gardening for Water Quality with Native Plants and the AMNP Board will be speaking about our rare native plant, the Lady Slipper.
Autrey Mill, in conjunction with the Secret Garden Tour, looks forward to once again highlighting wonderful musicians and artists for the enjoyment of the tour patrons. Autrey Mill will be offering tea and sandwiches on the front lawn under the shade of the Chestnut Tree. Tickets for the buffet – style luncheon will be sold for $5 per person. Proceeds from the luncheon will be earmarked to supplement our mission “to create a destination and educational resource to inspire exploration, appreciation, and preservation of the natural environment and local history.
All Secret Garden Tour stops are conveniently located along the Old Alabama Road corridor, which will allow visitors to relax and enjoy each special property at a leisurely pace. Fulton County Master Gardeners will be answering plant-related questions. Educational presentations will be occurring throughout the day at the Nature Preserve. All proceeds from this event will support the work of Johns Creek Beautification and will be specifically earmarked toward the purchase of public art sculptures for the City, landscape beautification projects throughout Johns Creek, and to benefit an extensive Citywide daffodil planting effort to raise awareness of cancer survivorship through their partnership with CanCare. Many of the attractive landscaped medians along SR141 and State Bridge Road are examples of projects facilitated by Johns Creek Beautification and funded through public and private partnerships.
Passes for the Secret Garden Tour will be made available on John Creek Beautification website beginning March 20, 2019 ($25 each, free for children 12 and under).
